state quarters

Post  catherine ch. on Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:29 am

Maybe you already noticed that some of us - at the meetings- exchange some money....quarters to be more precise...

Why???

we are collectors of state quarters...

what is that ?? confused: confused

'The 50 State Quarters program (Pub.L. 105-124, 111 Stat. 2534, enacted 1997-12-01) is the release of a series of commemorative coins by the United States Mint. Between 1999 and 2008, it is featuring each of the 50 individual U.S. states on unique designs for the reverse of the quarter and, by the passage of HR 2764, 2009 will feature the District of Columbia and the nation's five territories.

The program was conceived as a means of creating a new generation of coin collectors, and in that it succeeded.[1] The 50 State Quarters program became the most successful numismatic program in history, with roughly half of the U.S. population collecting the coins.[2] The U.S. federal government made a profit of $3.8 billion from collectors taking the coins out of circulation.[3(wikipedia)

you can find the design for each state quarter on wikipedia
see 'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_State_Quarters

for each quarter there is a P and a D version
"One more thing, the two columns marked D and P indicate the Denver and Philadelphia mints, respectively, where the quarters are minted. The D or P appears on the lower right of the heads side, behind Washington's ponytail. Every quarter has a D and P version."

so you can collect only a quarter per state or 2 per state (only difference between the two is the print P or D)

it is something fun to do.....try to collect all of them and buy a collector (barnes and nobles or borders for ex)
and so you will have a great souvenir when you will be back in yr home country...

by the way i'm collecting the quarters !! bounce bounce
and i still miss some
here is my list of miissing quarters ( i collect the P and the D !!!!)
in D .....Iowa , West Virginia , Idaho , Utah and Oklahoma
in P and D ...the ones of 2008 New Mexico , Arizona , Alaska and Hawaii...

so please look in yr wallets Very Happy Very Happy and if you have one of those bring them to me ...i'll give you another quarter in exchange

if anybody else have a collection still not complete...send yr list of missing quarters and we will try to help eachother!!!!

see you

Catherine cheers cheers cheers cheers cheers

Dear all,

It's also my husband's new hobby in State!
I think we can help each other to complete the collection. That's great! Laughing
Before that, we have to figure out what we have and we don't have.

By the way, does anyone know where can buy the collection case or something else for quarter collection?
Thanks so much.
