You like to travel ?

Here is a list of week ends road trip around Pittsburgh:

-Lake Erie*: nice beaches in summer, and a nice Boat museum in Erie.
-Niagara falls***: If you can't find a cheap hotel in Niagara don't hesitate to go near Niagara on the lake on the Canadian side, or near Fort Niagara on the US side. They are less touristic small villages. You can also push to Toronto its known to be nice.
-Bedford**: You can see a lot of covered Bridge, and open air museum on old american village.
-Lancaster County***: Go see the Amish community! Wonderful countryside, and stop by Hershey chocolate factory for your kids.
-Washington***: May, June is the perfect season for the cherry blossom! If you want to visit the white house you have to ask one month earlier and make a special demand. To visit the capitol you have to go there early in the morning ~8.30am there's limited number of tickets.
-Philadelphia**: On a week end its nice, just after seeing the Amish, go to Philadelphia to learn a bit more on USA history, where the independence and the constitution were signed .
-Shenandoah park*: Its the wildlife! Bears are everywhere... info: http://www.nps.gov/shen/
-Ohio County*: Amish community
-Grove City and Volant*: For the prime outlet shopping and the Amish community

Its a long drive but a nice drive:
-Great Smoky mountains ***: Wonderful forest and scenery, especially to see Bears! Be careful its the wildlife! link:http://www.nps.gov/grsm/
-Mammoth Cave**: Far but such a nice road trip, and the caves are huge! information:http://www.nps.gov/maca/

If you prefer to fly then here are a few nice cities just (1h/2h flight):
-Chicago ***: Some people prefer Chicago to New York, I understand why, its amazing!
-New York ***: For the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Isalnd be there early or book in advance! (8am is the first boat). Go up Rockfeller center instead of Empire State building, the view is nicer! Fly with JetBlue, cheap ticket sometime.
-Boston **: expensive city but very nice! don't forget to eat Lobster! JetBlue has cheap ticket sometime
-Charleston / Savannah *: You want to learn a bit of US History, see alligators in the swamps, visit nice gardens and old plantation, or go for a swim in the sea with dolphins, or just walk on the beach, then this is a place for you! Airtran has cheap ticket sometime

I was wondering where to travel with my mom when she visits me this June.
If someone knows about nice and not expensive hotels to stay, please share them with me.
