The music of Astor Piazzolla

Tango music has always captivated the audiences of the world, and the compositions of the late Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) have marked milestones within the musical genre, leading the way to the tango of a new era.
Revolutionizing tango, giving new emphasis to the passionate Argentinean beat, Piazzolla brought his music to the classical stage during the mid-to-late 1900s. Performances of his music have electrified audiences, awakening admiration and love for the intensity of this music enjoyed by multitudes worldwide.
The legacy of Piazzolla's music will prevail in the Tri-State region. Pittsburgh's preeminent tango ensemble, Tangueros de Ley, will perform a compelling selection of music by Astor Piazzolla,
7 p.m., Sunday May 4, 2008, Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, Oakland. The classical precision of Tangueros de Ley, combined with the ensemble's cultural ties to Argentina, pay tribute to Piazzolla and are designed to delight Pittsburgh's audiences.
